Rakshin Kandola (she/her) is a dedicated Vancouverite, a public school teacher and a childcare advocate with a proven track record of decision making on important municipal matters. As a parent and a union member, Rakshin cares deeply about prioritizing the voices of working people and families.
Her strength in compassionate decision-making and deep knowledge of Vancouver comes from serving on Vancouver’s Board of Variance, the Children, Youth, and Families advisory committee, and the Development Permit Board advisory panel. She is an executive member of a non-profit childcare society. Rakshin also revived and Chaired her union’s Social Justice committee. She believes in working collaboratively with community members, and listening to the concerns of everyday Vancouverites. Rakshin is ready to hit the ground running and knows that building a Vancouver for everyone is only possible through more inclusive public engagement.
Rakshin has a Masters Degree in Administration and Leadership with a focus on social justice and reconciliation from UBC. She has lived in South Van, Kensington, Cedar Cottage, and West End. Rakshin speaks Hindi, Punjabi, Haryanvi, Urdu and Spanish. Rakshin and her husband have two beautiful kids that amaze and inspire her to make a more sustainable city.

1) Grants for making more Passive housing that is mixed-use & grants for mobility/accessibility home renovations;
2) Increased involvement by IBPOC in all municipal matters;
3) Increased Affordable Childcare Facilities located near transit.
