For nearly two decades, Natalie has worked in environmental charities and non-profits with a focus on operations, compliance, and governance. She has served as the secretary to The Greater Victoria Compost Education Centre, the vice-president of the Stanley Park Ecology Society, and the treasurer of Hives for Humanity.
Natalie has an educational background in environmental sciences and continues to learn about the plants, animals, and ecosystems of the Salish Sea in her free time. She finds hope and inspiration for the future of our cities spending time with nature, particularly urban parks and beaches.
A strong believer is parks and community centers as neighbourhood hubs, Natalie’s priority is leveraging these vital public spaces to address interconnected issues like affordability, social isolation, and emergency preparedness. Building on her experience with non-profits, Natalie’s approach is community-led, scalable pilot projects based on proven models from across Canada and around the world.
Natalie has made her home in Metro Vancouver since 2011. She is a volunteer with Vancouver Farmers’ Market, Adopt a Catch Basin, and Emergency Support Services. After living in many neighborhoods, Natalie, her husband, and their senior rescue dog Oliver are now happily established in the West End.
