Iona (思穎) Bonamis

Iona (she/her) is a Vancouver-born, first-generation Chinese-Canadian, fluent in Cantonese. She is a City of Vancouver Senior Transportation Planner and a CUPE member, and has over 13 years of urban planning experience. She has worked in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

As an urban planner, Iona knows how the City is run and how decisions are made. She wants to use her knowledge and experience in municipal planning to help Council be efficient and enact progressive policies that lead to concrete actions, and that are inclusive of those often under-represented.

Iona sits on the Trout Lake Community Centre Association Board of Directors and her kids’ school Parent Advisory Committee. She also owns and operates a small business empowering people to lead greener and healthier lifestyles.

Iona is passionate about protecting Vancouver’s livability, and is committed to taking bold actions to tackle climate change and help create complete, diverse and inclusive communities.

1) Reducing carbon emissions from transportation and the heating of buildings
2) Enabling more affordable housing options and multi-use developments city-wide while protecting tenants
3) Deeply engaging groups often under-represented, including Indigenous and racialized communities
