Constance Barnes, served 2 terms as Park Board Chair and Commissioner managing a budget of 128 million, was NDP Candidate for Van Centre and brings a wealth of experience in electoral politics.

One of Constance’s fortes is the ability to bring together and collaborate with marginalized, working-class, investors and private sectors, creating understanding and harmony in the community.

Constance has over 10 years Front Line work in the Downtown Eastside, including spearheading a cutting-edge employment program, managing the Overdose Prevention Site, and working with Indigenous community and local artists.

She successfully negotiated the highly controversial Joint Operating Agreement between Park Board and Community Centre Associations. This new process is designed to include all Community Center’s and to be collaborative, fair, and fully transparent.
